1857 diary of Alexander Edmison (1871-1928); sermons, news clippings and correspondence of the Rev. J. H. Edmison, chiefly while at Cheltenham, Ontario, Presbyterian Church. Includes unbound copy of Presbyterian Record, 1877, and a scrapbook in memory of Rev. Edmison that contains clippings, letters, and postcards from throughout his life.

These papers came to the Trent Valley Archives with the papers of J. Alex. Edmison (Fonds 2) and have been transferred to a separate fonds to more clearly highlight the provenance.

Biographical Sketch/ Administrative History
The Rev. J. H. Edmison (1871-1928) was a Presbyterian minister who spent much of his career in Bruce County. Born and raised in Peterborough, he attended the Peterborough Collegiate Institute, then Queens University where he obtained degrees in Arts and Theology. In 1920, he was awarded an honorary Doctor of Divinity from Pine Hill College in Halifax. At the time of his death, he was a member of the Queens Board of Governors and Secretary of the Board of Home Missions with the United Church of Canada.. Rev. Edmison and his wife, Lilian Fitzgerald of Peterborough, had three children– Alexander, Harry, and Helen.
