Scope and Contents:
This is a map of Douro Township in early August 1825 (dated 8 August 1825) commissioned by Peter Robinson and intended to show the locations in Douro Township that were available for placing Robinson immigrants by showing properties for which there was already a demand.
Scale 40 chains to one inch; Copy from Birdsall’s survey made by James G. Chewett, a drafting assistant and cartographer in the offices of Thomas Ridout, surveyor general.
The map contains many interesting land features with 1825 toponymy.

Custodial History:
The map was originally created in the Surveyor’s General Office, York, Upper Canada, 1825. The photograph was made in 2012 for a researcher, Colum M. Diamond, who donated it to the Trent Valley Archives, 20 March 2013. .
