Scrapbooks and notebooks related to Archie Tolmie’s research in local schools, town halls and family collections. Interested in Murchison, MacKay, Tolmie, Graham, McMillan, Junkin, Moynes and other families, and in the history of Fenelon Falls, Woodville, Lindsay, Ops, Mariposa, Verulam, Somerville, Eldon, Glenarm, Bexley, Colborne District, and of individuals from the area such as Leslie Frost, and Sam Hughes. Notable is the school register for Mariposa Township, 1904, 1908, 1912, 1919, 1925, 1928. Tolmie also transcribed local records that are not readily available elsewhere: Assessment roll, Eldon, 1877, Mariposa, 1851-53. Also personal and family papers, 1904 to the 1980s which include papers related to his positions with Canadian Industries Limited, Halifax, Nova Scotia, 1940-64, and in Peterborough after 1964. |
