Minutes and reports of the ‘38 Club, papers and photographs relating to the Young Women’s Christian Association (YWCA) and George Street United Church. Photographs, slides, maps and scrap books relating to trips taken with the YWCA. Personal photos as well as other ephemera including material on the Royal Family. 223cm.

Scope and Contents: These papers consist of six series.

Series A: Minutes, reports, membership lists, handbooks, newspaper clippings and photographs relating to the ‘38 Club and the YWCA (1938-1990s). Files 1-17, 24-34, 36-37, 39-44, 82, 118. Accrual 2011, 1 volume, ‘38 Club history scrapbook, 1963 and retrospective.

Series B: Various ephemera relating to the Royal Family (1940-50s), local area attraction pamphlets. Guide to the New York World’s Fair with accompanying personal photos – original. (1939) Various handbooks on curling, badminton, table tennis and golf as well as issues of the Canadian Motorist magazine (1951-52). Local material includes the Visual ‘67 Yearbook on Peterborough City and County and a pamphlet on the Lift Lock. Files 18-23, 46-51, 58-60, 63-66, 75-79, 81, 85, 93-98, 102-116, 119-124.

Series C: Papers relating to the United Church, a written history of the George Street United Church (Formerly George Street Methodist) including annual reports and membership directories (1992-2001), reports on the Omemee Methodist Church and Trinity United Church including an Omemee-Bethel Pastoral Charge annual report. Programs to the Lindsay Presbytery Annual Convention (1940, 1943). Files 35, 38, 45, 52-57, 61-62, 117.

Series D: Map collection of various cities in Ontario. Two blueprint maps: John J. Haslett’s Plan of the Islands in the Kawarthas, 105x120cm (xerox – original is dated 1890). Plan of Cottages in Kawartha Lakes, 90x225cm (xerox – original is dated 1916. Files 67-70, 83-84, 86-92.

Series E: Slide collection. Various slides relating to Omemee and Peterborough area including the Old Post Office and Hutchison House (1940s-1950s) Files 71-74, 80, 99-101. Vacation slides (1960s-1970s) Files 125-165.

Series F: Scrapbook and album collection. Several photo albums (1940s-1950s) which contain local content on themes such as cottaging, outdoor scenes, gardening. Scrapbooks contain newsclippings on the ‘38 Club, YWCA, travelling with the Fellowship Union, European travel, Royal Tour photos, Christmas cards, and various ephemera on poetry and anecdotes that were most likely used for YWCA events. Boxes 10-14.

Biographical Sketch/ Administrative History
Hazel Wilson, lived in both Omemee and Peterborough. Active member of the YWCA and George Street United Church. One of the original members of the ‘38 Club, an organization associated with the YWCA. Avid Royal watcher, traveller, and Master Gardener.
