Michael Doran’s new book, Nicholas Scott: From Chandos to Méricourt with the 93rd Battalion. Part of the Trent Valley Archives Memories Series, the book is the expanded edition of the gripping three-part series that was published in the August 2023, December 2023 and March 2024 issues of the Heritage Gazette. The book documents the life and wartime activities of the author’s great-uncle, Nicholas Scott, who served with the 93rd Battalion during the First World War. Born in Chandos in 1894, Nicholas was just 21 years old when he enlisted in March of 1916 and was one of the soldiers who never returned home to his family. The book also contains an extensive bibliography and short biographies of all the people who served directly alongside Nicholas.
